Rocket Disappeared on Landing Pad #3557

First off, thanks for creating an awesome mod! I'm having an absolute blast with it!

My issue: my rocket disappeared from my launch pad while on the Overworld. I have used it to go to the Moon and back 27 times (by my count of parachests). The rocket was set up on the pad and contained 100% fuel as well as two full fuel canisters. I was mining for tin close enough that the chunk with the rocket was loaded and heard lightning storm sounds...is it possible the rocket was struck by lightning and destroyed? Upon returning to the launch pad everything is exactly where it should be except there's no rocket. Thanks!

Minecraft version: 1.12.2 Galacticraft version: 4.0.1.181

Single player (SSP), Multiplayer (SMP), or SSP opened to LAN (LAN)? SSP, Hardcore Mode

Galacticraft add-ons and other mods installed? Minecraft Coder Pack 9.42 Forge Mod Loader 8.0.99.99 Forge 14.23.4.2705 Micdoodle8 Core

Please provide screenshots / crash report / log as needed.

Thanks for your nice comment - and respect for playing in Hardcore Mode :)

It's hard to guess why the rocket has disappeared. If you have a log covering the game session when this happened, I will happily take a look at that - although it may not help us much further.

Some things to rule out:

If a rocket "drops" in the ways described above, it becomes like any other item in the game, I mean that if the chunk is loaded and the player does not pick the item up within approximately 5 minutes, then the game will destroy the item.

A rocket which is not "dropped" should be able to simply exist in the same position permanently. As confirmation, there are some public servers which have Galacticraft entities (rockets or other vehicles) in unbreakable glass cases in the server's spawn area, and the entities stay there OK for weeks or months without any problem.

One thing to consider is that the rocket may be still in its correct position, but somehow "descended" into the ground, in the same way that other Minecraft mobs or entities very occasionally sink into the ground (it happens with our Moon Buggy). I have never actually seen this with a rocket, but you could try digging under the launch pad and see if you can find it there.

Do you have cheats enabled in your game, so that you can simply spawn in (or /give) yourself another similar rocket? (I'm guessing maybe not, if you are playing in Hardcore Mode!) If not, you could maybe edit the level.dat to enable cheats temporarily, fix the issue, then edit level.dat again.

I'd be interested to know how far you can get in the game in Hardcore Mode without dying...

Thanks for your detailed response!

The launch pad was/is on the top of a 3-story building (maybe 15 blocks high). If it's possible it descended through the building and into the blocks beneath, then I'll dig it up and see if it's there. :)

The lightning strike I mentioned is just the vanilla Minecraft lightning strike, which starts fires, charges creepers, turns pigs into zombie pigmen, etc. Earlier in the same game lightning struck about 2 blocks from me, destroying a block of sugar cane and setting a grass block on fire for a few seconds. I felt the hit (like with a skeleton's arrow), though it didn't do any damage to me (I'm in full diamond P4).

There were no other mods, just Forge, the Micdoodle Core, and the Galacticraft Core (in fact, I later realized I had forgotten to install the Galacticraft Planets mod, which I've since corrected!). I've since installed JEI (as I couldn't find recipes that I needed on the Wiki) and JourneyMap (as I STILL can't find a Moon Dungeon and various posts suggest that will help).

My solution to the missing rocket was to turn on Quick Mode, which I hadn't yet used, and build a new one. :) I actually invited two other players in my household (via Open LAN) who each mined and built their own rocket this weekend as well, all three of which we keep safely stored in a chest until just before using them. Quick Mode has also been turned back off.

In terms of how far I've gotten in Hardcore mode, I'll post something on the forums to share a bit, rather than keep this on Git. :)

Thanks again for building an absolutely awesome mod! I've done a couple minor edits to the wiki and will be contributing fixes to it as I learn more (e.g. one article says the Moon Dungeon blocks can't be broken, like bedrock, while another says you need to use a pick...once I find my own Moon Dungeon, I'll update the wiki with whatever I find to be the case!).
