This is a purely functional pull request. Styling will come later.

Addressing 1., I changed the Firebase version in order to silence some errors in AngularFire2 (this was the recommended course of action).

Okay, turns out that downgrading the Firebase version actually didn't help, but upgrading to angularfire2@next did.
