Spotty is not accepting my credentials #122

Closed DeWitteWama closed 3 months ago

Today I did not have any sound while playing a song from spotify on my Squeezebox Touch. I run Logitech Media Server on a QNAP TS-219P. I erased my Spotify account in LMS and tried to set it up with my credentials having a premium subscription and by finding Spotty via my telephone and tablet without result. To server log tell me: 24-05-20 13:06:52.6306] Plugins::Spotty::Settings::Auth::handler (83) Authorization failed: spotty v0.12.2 [24-05-20 13:12:53.8666] Plugins::Spotty::Settings::Auth::handler (83) Authorization failed: spotty v0.12.2 [24-05-20 13:14:08.4485] Plugins::Spotty::Settings::Auth::handler (83) Authorization failed: spotty v0.12.2 [24-05-20 13:19:21.5643] Plugins::Spotty::Settings::Auth::handler (83) Authorization failed: spotty v0.12.2 [24-05-20 13:22:57.5645] Plugins::Spotty::Settings::Auth::handler (83) Authorization failed: spotty v0.12.2 I opened the ports 4070 and 5353 to the NAS but still no effects. Does anybody have any idea how to solved this issue? Thx

michaelherger commented 4 months ago

Did you try authenticating using a Spotify app? v0.12.2 might be a bit old... I guess that's the "legacy helper" plugin or similar? Would the one for "Pi Zero" work?

DeWitteWama commented 4 months ago

Hi Michael, Thank you for the swift reply. Yes I tried authenticating with a Spotify app on two gadgets without result. It's indeed the legacy helper plugin. With the Pi Zero I get the following reply:

There has been a problem running the Spotty helper application. Most likely your operating system and/or platform is not supported. Please report the following details to me:

Operating system: QLMS 2.X (QNAP TurboStation) [Debian 9 stretch] / armv5tel-linux

Please enable debug logging for plugin.spotty, then try again both with Spotify app and with credentials. Then send me the resulting server.log.zip (Settings/Advanced/Logging) - https://www.dropbox.com/request/T3RctyzGgNg0oFDubq6a

michaelherger commented 4 months ago

Would you be able to run a command on the NAS in a shell? In that server.log file there's a line with -u "fdew..." in it. Please copy that file, paste it in a shell on the NAS, and remove " --ap-port 12321" from it. Then hit Enter to execute the command. What would that give?

Hi Michael,

Thank you for your answer, I'll try later today.

Hi Michael,

Looking at the line, my password is not correct. 8 digits and my current password is 13 digits. Nowadays Spotify requires a minimum 10 digit password. Is that an option resetting my password...

There is one more line with nearly the same info:

Plugins::Spotty::Settings::Auth::handler (69) Trying to authenticate using: "/share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/LogitechMediaServer/SlimServer/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/SpottyARMLegacyBin/Bin/spotty" -c "/share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/LogitechMediaServer/SlimServer/Cache/spotty/AUTHENTICATE" -n "Spotify Authorization (Franky's CD box)" -u "dewittewama" -p "****" -a --disable-discovery --ap-port 12321 --verbose

Don't add the "Plugins::Spotty..." part! Only the part after "using:":

/share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/LogitechMediaServer/SlimServer/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/SpottyARMLegacyBin/Bin/spotty" -c "/share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/LogitechMediaServer/SlimServer/Cache/spotty/__AUTHENTICATE__" -n "Spotify Authorization (Franky's CD box)" -u "dewittewama" -p "********" -a --disable-discovery --verbose

And then you'll obviously have to put your valid username and password after -u and -p respectively. But don't post them here...

From the log it looks as if the helper was somehow blocked from accessing the internet?

DeWitteWama commented 4 months ago

Hi Michael,

Thank you for your reply. I will upload my latest log file and a PDF with some screendumps of both LMS and Squeezer the Android app which I use to operate my players. The main message in the log is:

Aborted[24-05-25 14:29:35.4244] Slim::Utils::Timers::ANON (272) Error: Timer Plugins::Spotty::API::Token::_pollTokenHelper failed: Can't use string ("thread 'main' panicked at 'calle"...) as a HASH ref while "strict refs" in use at /share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/LogitechMediaServer/SlimServer/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Spotty/API/Token.pm line 187.[24-05-25 14:30:04.8731] Plugins::Spotty::API::Token::_gotTokenInfo (172) Failed to get Spotify access token: 'true' expected, at character offset 0 (before "thread 'main' panick...") at /share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/LogitechMediaServer/SlimServer/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Spotty/API/Token.pm line 169.

PDF. First page main screen LMS. If I select Spotty nothing happens. Page 2 till 4 Setting pages for Spotty. I selected all my 4 playes but to no effect. Last page Squeezer. I select My Apps and Spotty and the last screen stays forever. I guess something todo with the above, No Access Token.

Thank you for your guiding and assistance

Best regards,

I'm sorry to admit that I don't know whether this is an issue with the legacy helper becoming way too old (or recent code breaking compatibility), or whether there's a problem on your end. "Permission denied" makes me wonder whether you had some firewall or something blocking access to the internet.

It would likely be much easier (and better performing!) got get a Raspberry Pi to run LMS on, leaving the NAS as the file storage for the music files. That would allow you to run the latest and greatest LMS and plugins with little to no hassle.

See eg. https://lyrion.org/getting-started/beginners-guide-lms-on-raspberry-pi/

DeWitteWama commented 4 months ago

Hi Michael, I will check on the firewall again, but I think this is not the case.

The Raspberry option has crossed my mind already as I want to upgrade my NAS and installing LMS on the newer NAS' seems to be a real challenge whereas the Raspberry option is easy peasy. Thank you for now. I'll keep you updated if I find a solution for the Spotty/Internet issue.

Kind regards,

Frank

Hi Michael, I didn't solve the Spotty/Internet issue but got the feeling that it is a timing issue as I saw the same message No Token a view times also on my new setup with LMS on a Raspberry Pi. New setup is working fine and is stable since I switched from the 64bit to the 32bit version of PiCorePlayer. Raspberry is a 4 model 4 with 8Gb and has an easy job with only LMS. Once again thank you for your assistance. Best regards, Frank

Frank

I'm sorry to admit that I don't know whether this is an issue with the legacy helper becoming way too old (or recent code breaking compatibility), or whether there's a problem on your end. "Permission denied" makes me wonder whether you had some firewall or something blocking access to the internet.

It would likely be much easier (and better performing!) got get a Raspberry Pi to run LMS on, leaving the NAS as the file storage for the music files. That would allow you to run the latest and greatest LMS and plugins with little to no hassle.

Are you saying you're good now? Can we close this issue?
