AFP and SSHFS connections to a shared area: Finder views anomaly #108

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Whilst testing against issue 87
and after noting issue 107
(hence some mention of '107' in the PNGs attached and in the text below)

<sftp://tt@omnium.freeman-centre.ac.uk/>
THEN simultaneously a secure (ssh) AFP connection
 <afp://tt@omnium.freman-centre.ac.uk/>

After noting issue 107
(An unexpected end-of-file was encountered (MacOS Error code: -39)

I created a hierarchy in the home directory of tt,
~/Documents/MacFusion/87
~/Documents/MacFusion/107
and moved the two test files with which I had been working
and removed a directory in which one or both of the test files had previously
been saved.

At some point I noted that the sshfs view of the hierarchy was wrong (still is
wrong):
~/Documents/MacFusion/87
~/Documents/MacFusion/87

In Terminal: the directory listings are correct for both types of connection,
see
<http://pastie.textmate.org/61676>.

In TextWrangler, interestingly,
File | Open… |
browsed in LIST view and it found the /107 path :)
BUT when I switched to column view without escaping from the Open: dialogue
(with the
intention of taking a screen shot that highlighted the volume I was browsing)
THEN it found 87
twice and 107 not at all.

Since then,

For this issue:

Priority-low
and may be difficult to reproduce
but I'm noting these issues (there are more) as separate for the moment, in
case one or more of
them help to explain some other issue.

Priority-low
as both SFTP and secure AFP connections have been made by the SAME user (tt),
which in real life
is extraordinarily unlikely. it should be more realistic to make an SFTP
connection to a shared
area as one user, a secure AFP connection as another user.

I disconnected from both volumes,
used MacFusion to reconnect as tt,
did not reconnect via AFP,
the Finder view is now OK

— but I'm leaving this issue open as a low priority defect pending further
testing. Next test should be to make
concurrent connections as different users.

Whilst this is not an issue with MacFUSE or MacFusion, the symptoms may be
evident whilst using one or
both, so for help and documentation, probably
Milestone-Release1.3
