MacFusion says, "MacFuse not installed" even after installing/using MacFuse #188

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install MacFUSE Core.
2. Restart.
3. Launch MacFusion.
4. Receive error message, "MacFUSE is not installed. Please install MacFUSE
off Google's site to run MacFusion". [note: this text should be updated to
have a period at the end.]

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
MacFusion should launch.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
MacFUSE Core 4.0, MacFusion 1.1, OS X 10.4.9, MacBook CoreDuo,
non-Administrator account (but installed by an administrator which won't
launch MacFusion either), set to Japanese  language

Please provide any additional information below.
SpotlightFS works, so MacFUSE must be installed properly. How does
MacFusion check for MacFUSE?
