apps such as mac mail hang when accessing macfusion drives for, e.g., attachments #267

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Mount ssh a remote system which has many (>256 say) files or subdirectories 
in it
2. Compose mail message and attach file
3. Browse to a macfusion drive subdirectory that has lots of files in it (click 
the triangle to view 
the file list for that sub directory)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect to be able to attach file
Observe beachball and sometimes mail crash.  

Note: Get same problem with open file dialog of other applications (eg M$ Word).

What version of the product are you using? 1.2 beta 3
On what operating system? OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger)

Please provide any additional information below.
Otherwise, I think macfusion is great, keep up good work!
