Moderator hand-off between Moderator and applicant #346

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
build 979

Is it necessary that when someone requests to become moderator, every user in
the
meeting/conference needs to approve it? Wouldn't it be better if only the
current Moderator has to
approve it?

With a group of any size it starts to slow things down to have everyone approve
the moderation
change, and it introduces more potential for the meeting to get hung up by
someone leaving their
UI unattended etc.

Strongly agree with this... present moderator system needs to be redesigned in
my
opinion

I think moderator should also have ability to grant permissions to selected
participants.. ie. which user can user whitboard, or which user can be
seen/heard in
AV window.. this last feature will allow rooms to host meetings or events .ie.
moderator chooses who can be seen/heard (in meeting scenario, perhaps
everybody, but
in event 1-8 users can bee seen/heard at a time..switched on/off by moderator.

I agree on the latter issue, adding audio support (controlled by moderator).

I have a group that meets using the "event" mode and they use skype to be able
to talk.

Perhaps the way to restructure the moderation system (just for Events?) is to
be able to specify (in the config
for the meeting, or in some future scheduling system?) a "host" user who has
extra privileges, (and is not just
the first user to connect). This is the user who has controls to turn on-off
audio and other features for the
other users during the event. The regular moderation exchange can continue to
work as before (hopefully
with the above improvements).

I would add that, in some blended e-Learning contexts, maybe a multiple
moderator
scenario is useful.
For example, the professor could be moderator, and send video and audio, while a
second moderator, for example a tutor could ban users, moderates chat, changes
the
powerpoint slides etc.

there are multiple requests here.

first of all yes for the moment all participants need to agree. That could be
changed
to moderator-only-agree.
But having two moderators is too complicated for many scenarios.
In Event-Modus there may be an *raise hand to speech* function in future.

I have to agree with Sebastian here .. the "moderator only agree" should be the
easiest quick change to realize.
Not having a "raise hand" function is really a shortcoming -- it should be
realized
asap. But anyway it's a nice piece of SW. Keep up the good work.

i think that the "raise hand" function it's important in auditorium/elearning
room.
