Punctuation Mark Issue #1

Apostrophes, Quotation marks, accent marks and other punctuation marks like … still do not translate well. Most of the time the system deletes any and all characters that follow a punctuation mark it doesn’t understand.

Is this in reference to adding document descriptions, or doing searches in the frontend? Can you provide an example?

A couple of dimensions. In the Movimiento de Liberacion Nacional collection, Movimiento de Liberacion Nacional often gets cut off after the Liberac-. The first four digitized documents are an example of this. So accent marks cause the rest of the record to cut off.

Another different example using the apostrophe. The record From Slavery to Freedom: A Story from Angola. People's Press is the publisher... the apostrophe generates a / which is then stuck in the record. So sometimes this happens.

I'm still not sure if you are talking about the backend admin interface or the frontend search tool?

in the backend admin interface when you use " " instead of it reading "carry it on" it would read “Carry it On” . When you use spanish accent marks, é often cuts off. so like communiqué turns into communiqu . 60's sometimes turns into 60’s. It doesn't happen all time, i just entered " " that work but those are some examples I've seen as I've been poking around this morning.

Sorry - I'm still not able to see any cases of this happening.This is happening when you input records, or just when you are searching the records that are there? Could you try to figure out some steps to reproduce this issue, like a particular search term?
