Browser compatability #9

I want to work towards checking to make sure our site is compatible across browsers and also on smart phones.

OK. I haven't done any extensive testing, but for the most part, the site is pretty simple, and shouldn't have any major issues across browsers. For some of the audio to work in smartphones, you'll need to re-encode the files. The media player uses flash to play audio that the browsers can't handle natively, but most android phones don't support flash. So that could wind up being a pretty big project. Another option would be to put them on some service similar to vimeo, but for audio files (there's one called soundcloud). They'll handle the re-encoding for you. Doing a mobile-specific layout could also end up being a big project, since the initial design wasn't done with mobile in mind.

ok, everything you say is interesting. don't think a mobile specific layout is worth the time/energy. Let me ask Claude about this one, putting all our stuff on another service might be more than he's up for. I do see soundcloud all over the place now, do you know anything them... like given our politics and yours... is soundcloud a descent service?
