hi. do you have a link to the vendor or the AppStore page?
Also, please try contacting the vendor, too. In some cases, they are open to
improve their apps. You may suggest that they contact me, if that's needed.
BTstack GPS does add the "GPS" capability to the system which is usually tested
by an app and patched the CoreLocation framework to report external GPS
readings.

I will submit a support request there too since I bought the associated device.

did you try with an iPod? BTstack GPS does not prevent the build-in GPS to work
on iPhone or iPad 3G.

All I have are two iPod touches - I tried it with a 4G.

Hi. As it is a free app, I've just installed it on my iPod Touch 4G (which I
bought to help/debug iPod issues..). On the first screen, RadarActive tells me
that it doens't show the traps on an iPod. That's just an
incomplete/short-sighted implementation. Please tell them to check for the
"GPS" capability, before showing that "V1 display only" message.
Checking the GPS capability is the correct way, as advised by Apple.
(otherwise, I could try to patch it, but that's not so nice, doesn't work
perfect, and will take longer than it takes Valentine Research to update their
GPS detection code.)

Radaractive is a separate company than Valentine - but I've already emailed
radaractive a support request.

I contacted them - they aren't going to fix the program right now, but will
give me a one-off version that should work. Thanks.

hi.. I've spent some time looking into TomTom, RadarActive, and Nike+ GPS.
Nike+ GPS is stubborn, but I got a version that works for RadarActive - please
try this one http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5138628/GPS-Support.dylib

I replaced the dylib in /Libraries... but it didn't work - do I need to reboot?
I tried reinstalling Radaractive. But I have a custom beta of RadarActive
that works with an iPod.

Even with the updated dylib, RadarActive doesn't switch to iPhone mode.
However the next version of RadarActive should render this moot, but thanks for
looking into this.

Weird. I have the version from AppStore and with the dylib it shows me the map
with Wifi localization. You only have to restart the app after updating the
dylib. Here's a newer version of, please give it a try.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5138628/GPS-Support.dylib - also please delete it
before putting the new version there (a pure scp/cp over the existing one
doesn't work)

For me it might be that the beta and the appstore version aren't coexisting
nicely, or there might be some caching so the new version didn't take before a
"not iphone" bit was set. I will try again.

Still no map after a few reinstalls. I'm doing 4.2.1 with a tethered jailbreak
on a 4G iPod touch. As I mentioned, I'm running a new beta of radaractive but
I tried deleting both and reinstalling and I get the (dimmed) radar status with
music player screen.

Ok. You've got a beta of the app which is working for you, I've learnt some
more about tricking apps and will add a preferences switch to BTstack GPS to
select which apps to fool in the next or second next update. Please let me know
when the official RadarActive update is out and you're fine.

Willdo. Again, thanks. They may simply redo radaractive to work the right way
but I will let you know.

I think I know what was wrong with the dylib files - I used scp to copy them,
but they came in without the executable bit set and I didn't notice until
today. The "stock" radaractive works now with it set to 755 permissions like
the original.

good point. an http download just cannot have the executable bit set, right.
I'll try to remember that.
