BTstack Keyboard for ATV: Stuck on 'Connecting' while trying to pair keyboard #225

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Upgrade ATV2 to iOS 4.4.4 - Jailbreak with Seas0nPass
2. Install BTStack for ATV 1.0.0-4 through NitoTV
3. Go to Custom Settings->BTStack, keyaboard appears in list, try to pair.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I am using a no-brand Bluetooth keyboard. The keyboard was paired easily and
worked fine in iOS 4.2.1 so I know it worked before. Now, when I try to start
the pairing process it goes into 'Connecting' screen and sits there forever.
Also, I can back out to BTLoader it works fine, but when I back out again to
Frontrow, FrontRow crashes and reboots.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
BTstack Keyboard for ATV 1.0.0-4
iOS 4.4.4

Please provide any additional information below.
I tried the same with another BT keyboard, an HP Touchpad keyboard trying to
see if the problem is with the keyboard but the same thing happened: Stuck on
'Connecting' screen.

Mirko,

the full path is:

/Library/LaunchDaemon/ch.ringwald.keyboardd.plist

You probably start in private/var/root so you have to move all the way up until
the real #root. Then search for Library/LaunchDaemon/

Hope i helped.

It worked for me! Thanks all u guys! :)

Now it works :)

Many thanks for your help!
But now I have on Problem again.
The layout of the keyboard is English I think.
If you press the "space" key it make an "enter"

Is there any possibility to change it into German??

Don't worry about replacing the .plist. I'll push an update for that soon.

Does it work with the "stock" BTstack-0.4-1572,?

Mirko,

The English layout is the default one and you can't change it.

I think your problem has to do with something else. See where the blue cursor
is at when you press the "space" key. If it's on the top of an "a" it will
appear "a". If it's in "Enter" it presses "Enter". First go to the "Space" in
your cursor and then you can use the "space" key. I think this "bug" only
happens in the ATV default menus (Searching Youtube for example), not in XBMC
or others.

See if it works.

I tried updating the plist on 1572 and 1592. both times rebooting the atv
between each step, and checking the plist to make sure it wasn't modified or
replaced. Each time i have been stuck on "connecting". THis BT Keyboard is an
Apple keyboard and it connects to my imac or macbook without problem. It was
connected to the ATV the first time i tried and maybe worked for a day or two.

@i.am: do you get a crash log? (please install "syslog to /var/log/syslogd" and
reboot. then check /var/log/syslog and look for crashes of keyboardd)

Oops.... too soon still.
After some initial success, system goes unstable. ....esp after reconnect, but
have not found a reproducible case.
Clue must be in following, or in attached file...
It seems the BTstack icw ATV2 still needs some further work.

Hi Matthias,
I'm trying to get BTstack running on ATV2 with software 5.0 (4099), but it
won't. I don't see Custom Settings on the ATV menu and running keyboardd via
terminal causes the output below

AppleTV:~ root# keyboardd
launch_msg("CheckIn") IPC failure: 1BTdaemon started - stdout
BTdaemon started - stderr
Starting BTstack
BTstack working

and then nothing happens. I changed the plist like you mentioned above and rund
BTstack 1592 version.

Is BTstack IOS 5 compatible, or is it not possible to use a bluetooth keyboard
anymore after ios 4.4.4.?
Thanks!

Original comment by lvangroe...@gmail.com on 14 Apr 2012 at 2:55

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
@ivangroesen you can't run the keyboardd from the command line. BTstack and the
keyboard driver should still work on 5.x, the UI might have to get updated
probably. Try to contact TomCool who did the UI.

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Ah, ok. So te fact that I don't see the btstack options via Apple TV menu has
to do with the UI, right?

Has there been any update from tomcool on an updated gui that can get btstack
working on the 5.0 update as no keyboard is really harsh in xbmc?
