micheleg / dash-to-dock

A dock for the Gnome Shell. This extension moves the dash out of the overview transforming it in a dock for an easier launching of applications and a faster switching between windows and desktops.

Panel Mode Offsetting Top Bar Margins #1209

Open dcrdev opened 4 years ago

Upgraded to Fedora 32 over the weekend which ships Gnome 3.36.2, am encountering a weird margin issue with the top bar:

After some playing around I isolated it to using panel mode in dash to dock. Strangely disabling the extension is not enough to fix the issue, but manually resetting the gnome desktop dconf keys does. The moment I re-enable this extension and then enable panel mode, problem comes straight back.

This issue was referenced here https://github.com/micheleg/dash-to-dock/issues/1206 as well, but that issue was wrongfully closed in my opinion.

Details: v68 from Gnome Extensions Site Fedora 32 / Gnome 3.36.2 Screen Res: 1920x1080p Theme - Adwaita-dark

I would have assumed it was the appindicator extension to blame, as I've never seen this happen without appindicator icons.

dcrdev commented 4 years ago

@vanvugt that was my first thought as well, however like I said after doing some testing turned out to be d2d.

vanvugt commented 4 years ago

Great to hear you figured it out.

dcrdev commented 4 years ago

As in dash-to-dock (d2d) appears to be he culprit

I will open mine again, as this is the same issue as #1206. I tried opening an issue on gnome-shell but they said it might be this.

I have opened a bug on ubuntu verison of dash to dock as I am using Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock/+bug/1877288
