OMP:0005038 ! oxidative stress phenotype

Xref 1) synonym: " hydrogen peroxide " NARROW [CHEBI:16240]

I think "growth on hydrogen peroxide should be a child of oxidative stress phenotype, not a synonym.

I realized that many phenotype terms that describe whether cells growing in culture are sensitive or resistant to an environmental stress were descendants of 'response to stress' (OMP:0000173), which, based on FYPO and GO, is the wrong branch of the ontology.

To fix this: i) I created a high-level term 'resistance to stress phenotype' (OMP:0007568), which has the definition: 'A cell population growth phenotype related to the resistance or sensitivity that cells in a population show to a stress. Typically, a cell population is deemed resistant to a stress if cells in the population grow and divide when exposed to the stress. A cell population is deemed sensitive to a stress if cells in the population stop growing (and may die) when exposed to the stress.' ii) I made child terms for resistance to oxidative stress, resistance to pH stress, resistance to radiation stress, etc. iii) I then moved terms such as 'altered resistance to oxidative stress' and 'altered resistance to acidic pH stress stress' to the appropriate parents in the new branch. iv) I am still working on editing the definitions of terms and checking that the parentages are correct.

I also edited the names of the terms that are still descendants of 'response to stress phenotype' (OMP:0000173) so all of the terms now have 'response to xx stress' in the term name.

I added 'resistance to hydrogen peroxide stress' as a narrow synonym of 'resistance to oxidative stress phenotype' (OMP:0007569).
