geodeticDatum doesn't need to be moved over - it always reads "WGS84", and NEON and NMDC both use WGS84 for everything. https://data.neonscience.org/documents/10179/11206/NEON.DOC.005011vA/f6d27a6f-aa16-3b42-b70c-de6b4ac8ae5e https://microbiomedata.github.io/nmdc-schema/lat_lon/
@bmeluch Thanks! I will add your comment to that issue and close it.
We will refer to these issues when the subport Usability testing is done & we're ready for squad R2
Neon's metadata is structured differently than NMDC and includes quite a few fields that were not mapped to the NMDC schema. Below is a list of all the NEON soil-related slots to potentially discuss adding to the NMDC schema. I have chunked some of the chemistry analyses slots together since they use the same NEON field names (on two different tables externalLab and soilChemistry). The rest is grouped by NMDC class (more or less) - Biosample, Extraction, and Metagenomic Sequencing. This list does not include any slots that were included in the mapping tsv file - not all of those may have been mapped and may need to be discussed as well. @mslarae13 @bmeluch

Consider capturing more details related to various analysis and soil chemistry for ammonium and inorganic nitrogen (NEON's externalLab table) and carbon and nitrogen concentration (NEON's soilChemistry table):
