Ongoing support for new MIxS releases & iterative updates
Updates to the GSC’s MIxS standards are released on an annual basis, and include updates on
environment-specific package and core fields across packages, as well as the development of new
packages based on community demand. This ever-evolving landscape of community-driven standards
requires close coordination and engagement with the GSC (see Letters of Support). We will perform a
refresh of the schema in coordination with these version releases, which entails semi-automated database
migrations (e.g., if a term is subdivided into two concepts). We will also work closely with the GSC’s CIG
to ensure the standards are properly encoded and coherent, along with backwards compatibility, and to
provide ‘computable diffs’ between each version of the standard such that migrations can be performed
automatically (Milestone 2.2).
