Connect NMDC EDGE to core NMDC orchestration services
NMDC EDGE61 is currently powered by a cluster computing service managed by SDSC. We will implement
automation functions in NMDC EDGE to execute workflows (Figure 4, K) using the available computing
resources and connect them back to the core NMDC orchestration services (Milestone 1.9). Once multi-
omic data processing is completed and the user wants to make the data public, the NMDC EDGE instance
will then submit the processed data back to the NMDC Data Portal to enable search and display of the
sample and results. While sample registration with standardized metadata will allow finding microbiome
samples using common descriptors, access to the workflow data products will enable more extensive and
detailed search of microbiome data. We will enable workflow metadata and products from NMDC EDGE
to be registered directly in the NMDC Data Portal (NMDC EDGE, Milestone 5.3).
