When submitting metadata for EMSL, the sample type you select in the EMSL sample submission should limit the env extension you can select

Currently, when submitting metadata with the intent of shipping samples to EMSL, you select the sample type in the EMSL form.

soil, soil- water extracted, sediment, plant, water.

When you get to step 5, you can select any of the environments. If a user selects plant in the EMSL form, they shouldn't be able to select soil in the environmental extension.

• [ ] How to limit the extension?
• [ ] Should the EMSL sample type be limited based on the extension selected? Move sample type sooner in the process?

We may not need this anymore? Rather we can ask "are you sending an extracted sample?" yes - no And a text box to describe the extraction.

EMSL is no longer explicitly tracking this in the metadata, just the shipping form.
