macOS app: Full-height sidebar #260

Common convention for modern-looking macOS apps is to have a full-height, translucent sidebar, with coloured icons. Here are a few first- and third-party examples:

Currently, the Micro.blog macOS app has opaque background, grey icons, and doesn’t go full height. Be nice if it looked and behaved like a fully ‘Mac-assed’ app!

I tried this once before and it didn't seem quite right, but it has been a while so I'll give it another try.
