Character count is inaccurate/timeline allowed too many characters #15

I published the following post (using cmd-return) before realising that there were still too many characters for it to appear whole on the timeline:

And yet the timeline shows the post in its entirety:

The edit screen still shows 285/280 characters.

Looks like there's a similar issue with posts that originate on Glass: like this one from JF Martin

In the app, without the photo, the post is counted as 578 characters and yet appears in full in the timeline.

This is an issue with the optimization we made for showing posts right away in the timeline… I bet if you refresh the post will show properly truncated now, but it doesn't right away. I'll work on fixing this so it's consistent.

Mine is still not truncated, at least on this page which was the only way I could find the timeline version. I'm not sure what type of refresh would change this.

You can see JF Martin's is the same:

Maybe he would need to refresh it himself to force the truncation? Do posts in the timeline change from that far back?

I just tested this again, with the new 300-character limit, and this post has the same problem.
