This is a space in IBS where facilitators can develop, manage, and (future)
eventually even deliver classes from.

The Facilitator Workroom is a page that enables a facilitator to manage &
execute
all of the facilitor tasks for a class. The Facilitator's Workroom is a page
that
is accessed from within an organization, which means that only classes that are
owned by that organization will be accessible. The piviotal control for this
page
is a drop-down listbox that contains all of the classes of this organization
for
which this facilitator is authorized. (Note: A facilitator is authorized for a
class by an academic dean or provost). Whenever a class is selected from this
drop-
down listbox, the system will display the facilitator links for this specific
class.
The links that will be displayed are: Class Profile, Class Assignments, Class
Calendar, Class Status, Student Information, Collaboration, Gradebook,
Administrative, and Class Management. A description of each link follows:

Class Profile: Displays a page that describes this class, provides information
about
the course from which this class was built, tells the start & end dates of the
class, blackout dates, the facilitator(s) names, Course contact info, number of
students, etc.
Class Assignments: Allows the facilitator to define assignments and issue them
or
schedule them to be issued.
Class Calendar: Allows the facilitator to manage the class calendar. Options
will
include Specifying the start date, class days, & blackout days. A button will
also
be provided that will allow the "Course" calendar to automatically be copied to
the "Class" calendar, which will be modifiable by the facilitator by dragging &
dropping. The dates on the calendar will have links to assignments and
instructor
notes, etc. More detail will be given later.
Class Status: Displays a page that provides information about how long the
class has
been running, average progress of the student grades, student participation,
assignments submitted by students, etc. It may also include anonymous
suggestions
from a "Student Suggestion Box"
Student Information: This link will display a page that presents a list of all
students in the class, along with their contact information & background (via
link).
It will also display their email ID, etc. so the instructor may contact them.
Collaboration: Displays the Collaboration page (This still needs some defining,
but
I have some ideas). The purpose of the page is to allow students to interact
among
each other, for assignments and social interaction. The facilitator will have
the
option of sub-grouping the students so they can collaborate among themselves,
or the
entire group can interact with each other. This must be designed for real-time
and
non-realtime (asynchronous). More requirements to come...
Gradebook: This link will allow the facilitator to manage the gradebook for the
class. The gradebook will contains student info, grades, completion status,
participation status, etc. Rules must be created that will prevent a
facilitator or
group coordinators from changing gradebook information AFTER a class has
completed --
at that point, it is up to the Academic Dean or Provost.
Administrative: This will allow the facilitator to maintain notes about the
class,
contact information, etc. I'm not exactly sure what all will be here.
Class Management: This will allow the facilitator to manage the class... I'm
not
sure this will have anymore to add beyond the links that have already been
described..
