When it comes to metrics, what should we use?

One of the most used & praised tools out there appears to be Prometheus. What do we think of it?

@luigizuccarelli doesn't OpenShift also offer a metrics functionality?

Thoughts?

@marcotroisi - In our negotiator module Craig is using prometheus. I'm no expert but he says it works well. Openshift does have metrics , it needs to be installed and enabled, its based on Hawkular, heapster and Cassandra, it offers cpu,memory and network metrics out the box, alerts and monitoring are laso available now
