Preview is not working after installing Latest Version #7985

Bug Description

Unable to preview the files which is working in earlier version. with the installed version when i click on preview it is not opening the file in split screen.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. upload CSV or parquet file to Azure Blob container.
  2. Right Click and click on preview.
  3. The File View should open it new split screen but is not working. In earlier version it worked perfectly well.

@manas3487 We are unable to reproduce this issue on our end. Can you describe what does happen when you attempt to preview your CSV file? Can you share the your file or a sample file for which the problem reproduces?

Hi Craig,

When i click on preview nothing happens and i cannot see any data is previewed. The problem is not with file the problem is with the preview option. As per the earlier versions when we click on preview it would open preview in Split Screen. However this time it is not working.

@manas3487 Does preview not work for all files you try?

As I mentioned, we are unable to reproduce the issue. That's why I suggested you share a file that you know preview isn't working so that we can see if the problem reproduces on our end. That can help us pinpoint where the problem is.

Can you also share your log files? You can find then by selecting Help > Open Logs Directory from the menu.

@manas3487 There's also a possibility that your CSV is failing to parse correctly. Can you share it, or if your CSV contains sensitive data, share a sample CSV file that reproduces your issue?

Hi Craig,

I have also tried the same with Parquet files as well. However the preview is not working for some reason. I am not sure why 1.32 version is working and whynot in this. to cross check i have uninstalled latest version and installed old version and i tried it and it is working fine.

@manas3487 Are you able to preview other file types (images, videos, text files, etc.)? If Parquet files aren't working, it seems you're having issues with the tabular preview in general.

Here's a file that we know should work. Can you upload it to a blob container and try to preview it?
