Sorry to bother you guys, especially since I don’t yet own the second version of hololens, but as I was gonna purchase more Azure Kinect DK cameras and couldn’t (USA store told me it’s gonna be mid or end of next year and the european ones have a long waiting list) I am currently contemplating purchasing and using the Hololens 2 maybe...however, as I’ve read the paper about the Research mode it seems either that the sensor within HL2 is not the exactly same as AKDK (being limited in depth to 512x512 resolution for hand tracking and even less for long throw scanning) or that this has been limited by software for conserving battery power (which would be my guess)...so my question now is could someone in the know comment is it possible to get around the aforementioned limits in especially long throw scanning (though short throw is important too) even if it is only for recording and not real-time processing of depth frames?
Would research mode be somehow able to record the full AKDK depth frame resolution from the 1MPix depth sensor if it is the same as AKDK please (even with the battery hit or maybe even just when connected to the PC and thus charging simultaneously)? Thanks in advance...
