WindowsMixedRealityCameraSettingsProfile has a different serialization layout when loading #7669

Closed CDiaz-MS closed 9 months ago

CDiaz-MS commented 4 years ago

Describe the bug

The following errors are logged in a standalone development build, these errors are not logged in editor.

The referenced script (Microsoft.MixedReality.Toolkit.WindowsMixedReality.WindowsMixedRealityCameraSettingsProfile) on this Behaviour is missing!
(Filename: C:\buildslave\unity\build\Runtime/Scripting/ManagedReference/SerializableManagedRef.cpp Line: 199)

The referenced script on this Behaviour (Game Object '<null>') is missing!
(Filename: C:\buildslave\unity\build\Runtime/Mono/ManagedMonoBehaviourRef.cpp Line: 334)

A scripted object (probably Microsoft.MixedReality.Toolkit.WindowsMixedReality.WindowsMixedRealityCameraSettingsProfile?) has a different serialization layout when loading. (Read 80 bytes but expected 92 bytes)
Did you #ifdef UNITY_EDITOR a section of your serialized properties in any of your scripts?
(Filename: C:\buildslave\unity\build\Runtime/Serialize/SerializedFile.cpp Line: 2269)

To reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Open HandInteractionExample
  2. Navigate to Build > Build Settings
  3. Make sure the platform is standalone
  4. Check Development Build
  5. Build
  6. Run the app, and in the bottom right corner, open the log to see the issue.

Is this the same as https://github.com/microsoft/MixedRealityToolkit-Unity/issues/7119?

keveleigh commented 4 years ago

Also likely related to https://github.com/microsoft/MixedRealityToolkit-Unity/issues/3971. Maybe we can knock both out at once

CDiaz-MS commented 4 years ago

Yes I think it is the same as #7119, but that issue is with Android but it also shows up with Standalone.

For #3971, I have not seen any serialization errors related to the input simulation (maybe it has been fixed?), but the error message is the same as the one I am seeing for the WindowsMixedRealityCameraSettingsProfile.

We appreciate your feedback and thank you for reporting this issue.

Microsoft Mixed Reality Toolkit version 2 (MRTK2) is currently in limited support. This means that Microsoft is only fixing high priority security issues. Unfortunately, this issue does not meet the necessary priority and will be closed. If you strongly feel that this issue deserves more attention, please open a new issue and explain why it is important.

Microsoft recommends that all new HoloLens 2 Unity applications use MRTK3 instead of MRTK2.

Please note that MRTK3 was released in August 2023. It features an all new architecture for developing rich mixed reality experiences and has a minimum requirement of Unity 2021.3 LTS. For more information about MRTK3, please visithttps://www.mixedrealitytoolkit.org.

Thank you for your continued support of the Mixed Reality Toolkit!
