Describe the bug

When performing far interaction while the other hand is displaying the Windows logo on the wrist (that is, as if you were going to open the Shell Home menu), the Shell plays a sound which might couple with, for example, the release sound of a button.

To reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to PressableButtonExample map.
  2. Raise one hand with the palm pointing to you, such that the Windows logo appears on your wrist (as if you were going to open the Shell Home menu).
  3. Align that hand to the side of one button as in 2D, ignoring distance.
  4. Far press said button (do not let more than ~1s pass between press and release), making sure that the interacting hand is close to the other one.
  5. You'll hear 2 sounds on release, button's and Shell's.

Expected behavior

Only one sound should play.

Additional context

We appreciate your feedback and thank you for reporting this issue.

Microsoft Mixed Reality Toolkit version 2 (MRTK2) is currently in limited support. This means that Microsoft is only fixing high priority issues. Unfortunately, this issue does not meet the necessary priority and will be closed. If you strongly feel that this issue deserves more attention, please open a new issue and explain why it is important.

Microsoft recommends that all new HoloLens 2 Unity applications use MRTK3 instead of MRTK2.

Please note that MRTK3 was released in August 2023. It features an all-new architecture for developing rich mixed reality experiences and has a minimum requirement of Unity 2021.3 LTS. For more information about MRTK3, please visit https://www.mixedrealitytoolkit.org.

Thank you for your continued support of the Mixed Reality Toolkit!
