Would like to override Hostname or Computer while installing agent.

We have about 50 VM's with gibberish hostnames. In Azure Log Analytics, those gibberish hostname are filled in under 'Computer' and under 'Hostname'.

Creating /var/opt/microsoft/docker-cimprov/state/containerhostname feels hacky. And has impact on the agent_topology_request_script.rb.

Can 'Computer' or 'Hostname' be overridden during installation of oms agent? We'd love to have this feature.

Thank you for your submission. As previously announced, the Log Analytics agent has been deprecated and has no support as of August 31, 2024. If you use the Log Analytics agent to ingest data to Azure Monitor, migrate now to the new Azure Monitor agent. As part of repo archival, open issues and pull requests will be closed.
