Task description:
The Microsoft Open Maps editorial team is looking to improve or correct the map data for various points of interest in South America. We will also use all available aerial and street level imagery assets available in OSM. We intend to edit the roads, buildings, and land uses in close proximity to some POI's in South America. Some examples of the entities we will be focusing on:
*Airports
*Hospitals
*Universities
*Stadiums
Additionally, we may edit some other map features such as water bodies, natural features, and landuse features.
We will be processing this according to OSM local guidelines, and adhering to the Organized editing guidelines.
Mapping Guidelines:
We will be updating road, landuse, and building geometry and conflicting tags where found. We will look at the most recent aerial and streetlevel imagery to enhance current features, and reach out to the local community where necessary. The team will follow OSM guidelines for any editing which takes place.
Area of Focus:
This will be across the South American continent.
Data Sources:
All available imagery and street level sources in JOSM will be used to verify edits.
Changeset Comments:
The team will be adding changeset comments that follow OSM changeset guidelines and adding #MSFTOpenMaps to the changeset description.
Error Detection:
We will use the validator in the JOSM tool to look for errors, following the wiki as well as the LearnOSM guidelines.
