The task outlines the effort to improve the map data in Australia. Our users sometimes provide feedback of features from OpenStreetMap. This can be related to roads, natural features, buildings, or points of interest. We plan to investigate these using available and approved Open data sources.
We will also reach out to the community where these are not confirmed by data sources by using Map notes for local mappers to review.
Mapping Guidelines
The team will follow OSM guidelines for adding and tagging each entity.
Our team will also use #MSFTOpenMaps in our map notes.
Area of Focus:
This will be a country wide effort across Australia.
Error Detection:
We will use the validator in the JOSM tool to look for errors, following the wiki as well as the LearnOSM guidelines.
