Microsoft has created some MapRoulette challenges using Atlas Checks in various markets listed below. These are focused on a variety of geometrical and naming data issues detected by algorithms requiring mappers to investigate each task and make map improvements where necessary. Descriptions and documentation on specific Atlas Checks can be found here. There is also a good description and overview published in July 2020 available online. These are available for any mappers interested to improve the map to come join!
Our editors will work on these projects periodically and we encourage the community of all levels to come join us in the challenge. We will post these challenges to various social platforms, including relevant talklists.
MapRoulette is a fun, collaborative tool that allows mappers to improve OpenStreetMap by fixing individual data points on the map.
Mapping Guidelines:
We will be processing these according to OSM local guidelines, and adhering to the Organized editing guidelines.
Area of Focus:
These will be a country wide efforts.
Data Sources:
All available aerial and street level imagery resources in JOSM will be used to resolve task challenges.
Changeset Comments:
The team will be adding the changeset comment #AtlasChecks.
