Open quicklaunch shortcuts in Run without "~\" #11501

Could frequent folders be opened with fewer keypresses?

Present behaviour: To open the home directory in run type "\~" as this opens the "Folder" plugin. To get to "Downloads" type "\~\downloads", then arrowdown, return. The arrowdown is required because the "Folder" plugin always stays at the top of the list.

My request is that typing further than "\~" moves down the list past the "Folder" item, or removes the "Folder" returned item, e.g. to open "Downloads" type only "\~\Dow" then return. Even better would be typing just "Downloads" or "Down" as can be set up in Launchy by adding a shortcut to "Downloads" in one of the catalog directories.

@KhamRRI Can you post a screenshot of what folder item you mean. I don't have it in mind at the moment.

OpenFolderItem All items shown in the list are added by the "Folder" plugin, but the top item "Open" stays at the top of the list even as better matches exist. Feature request is that characters typed after "\~" trigger the selected item to be the best match rather than the persistent "Open" item, e.g. in this case "Downloads".

I think:

  1. The results should be switched.
  2. The Open command should contains the folder name.

Yes I agree on both points, however when only "\~" is entered then opening the user home directory does make sense rather than the current behaviour where the top hit for "\~" is an item in the \~\ directory rather that the "\~" directory, i.e. if the results were switched the top result for "\~" would be incorrect.

As stated in the original post, better would be if "\~" could be excluded, especially considering this character requires the shift modifier key, and using shift is not common to launch Run.
