Remote Citrix windows #13149

Open abdulhaquemasum opened 2 years ago

Description of the new feature / enhancement

Enable FancyZones to work with remote Citrix windows and applications

Scenario when this would be used?

When working with multiple remote Citrix windows and applications

Supporting information

DisplayFusion works with remote Citrix windows and apps so should be technically possible. However, I don't like DisplayFusion's interface as I find it too busy for my simple needs hence this feature will be very welcome here.

@abdulhaquemasum can you please specify a little bit more? As far as I know, Citrix provides many products. Which of them do you mean?

abdulhaquemasum commented 2 years ago

@SeraphimaZ Sure, please review the screenshots attached. FancyZones Citrix Window Issue.docx

Thank you for clarification. I'm not sure if that it would be possible. I tested similar thing, tried seamless mode on the virtual machine. PowerToys is required to be installed on the virtual machine where the window was originally created to make it possible to zone and track the window by FancyZones.

Thanks for testing. I'm not sure even how that will be possible then, as it'll be like having FancyZones installed on PC A and PC B, PC B being the remote system. Each will have a different instance of FancyZones running, so a window part of PC B displaying on PC A will not work? I have since tested running the Citrix apps as a remote desktop window, so it has all the apps in the window, this remote desktop window does snap to the zones, but it's not what I'm looking for. I have shared the same screenshots with DisplayFusion, I'll see what they say.

Snapping the citrix windows does work with windows native snapping functionality, so somewhere in the corporate empire (MS), someone's found the solution. :)
