yuyoyuppe commented 2 years ago

We'll postpone filter registration until PT is launched.

imthenachoman commented 2 years ago

I am sorry, I don't understand what that means?

imthenachoman commented 2 years ago

Ah. I think I get it.

So does that mean a new version will be pushed that doesn't try to do filter registration?

yuyoyuppe commented 2 years ago

Yes, it won't try to register the filter at installation stage.

jaimecbernardo commented 2 years ago

In the meanwhile, is it possible to ignore this registration error and would PowerToys still install, just with VCM being unusable? I assume this might be happening because it's a Windows N version, which won't have some of the media components other Windows versions have.

imthenachoman commented 2 years ago

@jaimecbernardo OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Now it makes sense. Yes, I have the Windows 10 N version.

I was able to install the latest one and skip/ignore that error. Seems to be working fine.

franky920920 commented 2 years ago

Should this be added to the installer to disable VCM if a Windows N version installation is detected and added into docs as well?

jaimecbernardo commented 2 years ago

Hi @majorxtrem @imthenachoman , We expect this to have gone away with the recent installer revamp that was released with the 0.53 versions. Could you please give it a try? Thank you!

majorxtrem commented 2 years ago

It's working for me with the version PowerToysSetup-0.53.3-x64.

Install successful over 50 machines

Thank you :)
