Battery percentage displayed in the taskbar #15212

Open peterfritz opened 2 years ago

Description of the new feature / enhancement

A configurable battery percentage displayed near the battery icon in Windows 11.

Scenario when this would be used?

It would be very useful as you'd be able to tell the battery percentage at a glance, without having to move the mouse and hover the icon.

Supporting information

I've found four Reddit threads [1] [2] [3] [4] regarding this issue and two apps [1] [2] that try to solve it, but I think it would be awesome if this functionality was available in PowerToys.

Thanks for your help to make PowerToys a better piece of software!

Hi, I saw his issue when searching for duplicates, but I saw little to no similarities, his focuses on monitoring and limiting battery capacity, and it seems to be a feature that must be implemented by the manufacturer, otherwise impossible. Mine is a way simpler purely visual addition to improve the taskbar battery icon.

this is too vague as is and unclear what isn't handled by systray and the power and battery settings page.

The Windows 11 systray doesn't have an option to always show the battery percentage. I don't know if it's a feature that's possible, relevant or useful enough to be added to PowerToys but I think it would be useful nonetheless, as you wouldn't need to click, press WIN + A neither hover the icon for a second or so, the percentage would be visible and available at a glance, just as in almost any other device.
