Warp0s commented 2 years ago

Microsoft PowerToys version

0.53.2 and 0.53.3

Running as admin

Area(s) with issue?

General, Video Conference Mute, Installer

Steps to reproduce

You just need to have Wave Link installed. Install or update Power Toys.

✔️ Expected Behavior

Nothing, things should kept working.

❌ Actual Behavior

Wave Link audio cannot redirect audio stream to outputs anymore, need clean reinstall of Wave Link.

Other Software

Wave Link 1.4.0.2.6.9.1

this is odd, we don't do anything to audio streams, we just mute the microphone. I have a Yeti (but i don't use any built in software) but i feel like i would have hit something by now.

In this scenario, maybe i'd suggest having VCM stay off. From 0.55 moving forward, VCM is off by default.

this is odd, we don't do anything to audio streams, we just mute the microphone. I have a Yeti (but i don't use any built in software) but i feel like i would have hit something by now.

In this scenario, maybe i'd suggest having VCM stay off. From 0.55 moving forward, VCM is off by default.

It came enabled and took me a while to discover what was that overlay (should have a hint of what the F is that, imho). (and last time the overlay stayed on all the time, now it goes away?!)

I did two updates. Both of them were after I turned VCM off (the overlay annoyed the hell of me, disabled it once, after updates it never got back on), so, we can deduce that on or off, does not matter.

I think that VCM does something on windows registry that, maybe, wavelink does too, and maybe one overrides the other. Just did a quick test, I just tried enabling VCM and the hotkey to mute mic shows the overlay, however it wont mute the mic. I can clic the the cam overlay and it will change state but wont block the camera feed (tested with OBS). The mic wont show mute, clicking on the overlay or using the hotkey.

(I just moved between cities, but I did not updated PowerToys yet, soon I'm going to make a video so I can show the bug

Literally just happened to me.

Didn't recognize the tooltip, clicked on "mic off" mistakenly and now my Wave Link doesn't output any sound. Probably gonna fresh install Windows.
