[FancyZones] FancyZones not active after (re)start of Windows #17915

Open allwicher opened 2 years ago

allwicher commented 2 years ago

Microsoft PowerToys version

0.57.2

Running as admin

Area(s) with issue?

FancyZones

Steps to reproduce

Start or restart the machine. Hold shift when moving a window. I can confirm that PowerToys is started and shown in the system tray. Opening the settings dialog (without doing anything else) solves the issue, i.e. FancyZones starts working.

✔️ Expected Behavior

The defined FancyZones will be highlighted and allow me to drop the window in one.

❌ Actual Behavior

Standard Windows behaviour (moving windows/snap to top or side) but no fancy zones.

Other Software

No response

Hi there!

We need a bit more information to really debug this issue. Can you add a "Report Bug" zip file here? You right click on our system tray icon and just go to report bug. Then drag the zipfile from your desktop onto the GitHub comment box in this issue. Thanks!

Hey, sure no problem.

When should create the bug report? Before opening the settings dialog (i.e. when FancyZones are not active) or after or doesn't it matter?

Here you are. Btw after I rebooted the machine, I got the experience as described above (FancyZones not active). After I created the bug report but didn't open the settings, FancyZones was working fine.
