Microsoft PowerToys version

v0.60.0

Running as admin

Area(s) with issue?

General, Awake, FancyZones, Image Resizer, PowerToys Run, Settings, Video Conference Mute

Steps to reproduce

  1. Update PowerToys to v0.60.0.
  2. Test whether settings from prior version have been retained.
  3. Run PowerToys as admin.
  4. Check whether Video Conference Mute is editable.

✔️ Expected Behavior

Previous settings to be retained and settings to be altered when running program as admin.

❌ Actual Behavior

Previous settings have been wiped, unable to enable some settings even when running PowerToys as admin (e.g., Video Conference Mute).

Other Software

No response

Workaround: User must close out of PowerToys completely, then reopen as admin in order to modify some settings.

Issue regarding setting retention between versions is still relevant.

This isn't an issue I think. We are saving the settings in your user profile. Did you switched account when opening PT as admin?

I'm not the one that reported this, but in my case: yes, my administrator account is different than the main user account. Reopening as admin works and is properly detected on the main settings screen, but the option to enable video conferencing mute is greyed out and says I need to run as administrator to modify these settings.

Same issue here, with 0.60.1.

Same issue with Video Conference Mute settings. When I run as admin, it shows "Running as Administrator" on the General tab, but when I go to Video Conference Mute, all settings are greyed out and it says "You need to run as administrator to modify these settings"

v0.60.1

I'm having the exact same experience. I am also on v.0.60.1. I've attached screenshots that show PowerToys is running as an administrator and then another screenshot showing that Video Conference Mute is saying I'm not and I can't make any adjustments to the settings.

I tested this on v0.61.0 which was released last night and the behavior persists.

I just tested this on v0.61.1 which was released 2 days ago (assuming g0nad meant the same version I mentioned earlier) and the issue still persists. I hope that this gets fixed soon because I can tell you right now, I used that Video Conferencing Mute capability all the time. It was a life saver for me. So now not having it, I have to always manually go back to the conference window to mute/unmute myself. It would be nice to have this capability back.

Thanks.

I tested it on v0.61.0 and v061.1 and they both have the same problem.

Same issue here, v0.61.1:

I've had the same issue for MONTHS and I've finally lost patience in just passively hoping that an update would fix this. It's somewhat reassuring to know that I'm not the only one who is experiencing this.

RebelNotion commented 2 years ago

V0.62.1 still has the same issue. Workarounds may work and thank you. It is probably a faster workaround for me to just reset them right then and there after the update is completed. Any idea when this will be fixed? Will it be fixed?
