Fancy zone layout as Single alt-tab group #21192

Description of the new feature / enhancement

Like in the windows 11 alt tab menu, It will be useful if the whole fancy zone layout was given as a single group.

The whole fancy zone layout could be a single group.

Scenario when this would be used?

I mostly use fancy zone when developing and I frequently alt tab to see documentation and then comeback to the development layout. But it is not convenient if each window in the fancy zone is separate and I have to alt tab multiple times to get back to the layout with every window showing. This is be vey useful for people with a single monitor like myself.

I agree, would be a killer feature! For large groups of windows (e.g., I have a 3x3 setup) it is tedious to bring them to the foreground.

Bump. Is this implemented yet? It's the sole reason I downloaded FancyZones.

bump. i badly need this too

Bump.

To anyone waiting, here's a possible work around: remapping the shortcut for a new virtual desktop to Win + D and the shortcuts for going to the previous/next virtual desktop to Win + Left arrow and Win + Right arrow respectively made it possible to keep multiple window layouts. I just alternate between them instead of Alt + Tabbing. It's a bit of a learning curve tho.

LokeshShelva commented 8 months ago

I started doing that too. I usually have 3 virtual desktops, each with different layout for the different projects i am working on. (i work on 2 projects in my job, in case anyone is wondering) and have to juggle between them.

This is not perfect and sometime switching between desktops is not fast. Alt+Tab to a fancyzone group would be a absolutely great.

Hello I really wanted this feature I hope this gets implemented!

I want to layout my tabs differently and just use shortcut key to access them: WIN + 1: image

WIN + 2: image

I want something like this, I hope someone read this.

I would like to see this as a feature, would be very useful. My use case is to put multiple monitor terminals and tools in fancy zones, I want to see them all or none, and bring N windows one-by-one is a real mess as of now

Sadly this issue is moved to "Icebox" which is "We don't expect to get to these, but they're welcome community contribution ideas!"

cuesta4 commented 1 month ago

Not sure why this would be put on ice box, it's such an essential feature that even Windows 11 got it natively. Or maybe this is the reason? Forcing people to upgrade?

Well I guess I need to upgrade to win 11 then
