File Manager #22670

Description of the new feature / enhancement

In the first MS Windows versions there was for quite a long time excellent tool, called File Manager. It was a great tool because it was using two windows for two different folders/drives. After that came the File Explorer which (FE) which is a big step back, since I have to open two (or many) of them if I want to copy files. Since than this work (my and colleagues) is very confusing. Typically I'm having opened multiple FEs and then it consumes my time to find the correct one. I use "a work around" by all the time closing/opening new FEs. Anywas, this work is very unefficient. PLEASE RETURN BACK OLD FILE MANAGER or at least include it in the Power Toys. THANK YOU 1000-times.

Scenario when this would be used?

Working with files. Recent MS Windows File Manager was very time efficient tool since I could easily copy files between two folders/drives. It was also possible to predefine some folder pairs. There was no need to open new program/application like it is in the File Explorer. After having may opened File Explores I loose my fokus to find the one I really need. That is very time inefficient. More skilfull people are using Norton Commander instead of File Explorer.

Supporting information

I suggest you to make a check at people's habits when using File Explore. When I come to my colleagues at work it makes me nervous how they are looking for correct File Explorer instanse to copy/open some file.

Hi @matickosnjek Microsoft recently open sourced the old file manager. You might want to give it a try: https://github.com/microsoft/winfile

Hi! We've identified this issue that best is suited for Windows Feedback Hub. To do this on Windows, WinKey+F will bring it up!
