Image Resizer: Add to File Upload Context Menu #22880

Open Rovoska opened 1 year ago

Rovoska commented 1 year ago

Description of the new feature / enhancement

When uploading a file, the context menu entry for the resizer is absent. This proposal would it to all file context menus, regardless of whether or not it was normal file menu or an upload context.

Scenario when this would be used?

I very often find myself needing to uploading pictures with certain resolution restraints, avatars, banners, art sites, or places like discord where much of what I upload it too large to properly render without being rejected or downsized. I would like to be able to resize images in the file upload menu so as to provide uninterrupted workflow, as opposed to having to open the file location elsewhere and resize it there.

That is an interesting idea, what you're proposing is an automatic setting you could decide when pasting an image somewhere to have a submenu where you could quickly have the menu software resize, save, then paste in the designated location.

I'm assuming it could be a simple menu by just having the paste submenu list a range of different resolutions from high to low that would allow the file size to be accepted.

I made a quick mockup in paint.net to grasp my head around it.

@Thokerdsson I don't think that is what @Rovoska means. It's about the fact that the context menu entry is not visible when inside of File Open dialog

The idea you show already has an issue: #3953

When uploading a file, the context menu entry for the resizer is absent.

That must be a bug, because I can use it on my end. Is it possible there is a different cause? Maybe file type or an app using a custom dialog?
