@lolop123 I can work on this, just let me know if this is correct: | Character | Mapped to |
---|---|---|
і | I | |
ї | I | |
ґ | G | |
є | E |
Note: There is no need to add the capitalized versions, since they will be automatically capitalized when you press Shift
I'll start working on this
Hi! Thank you very much for your work, I've just met my mother from another country, didn't have time for answer, but now I will check!
I have an update: I think you link it to the English keyboard but it will also work on the Russian one, then, please link і=s ї= ] You can check this picture to be sure ґ=u є='
I'll start working on this
Also if you can, we use " ’ ", this stick to make some works like "п’є", please make it

I don't really understand what you mean by that @lolop123, what character should appear when you press ’+Space
By Russian keyboard it's "." button, sо without possibility to press "."+space and get " ’ " it's also will be needed to swap keyboard languges to Ukrainian. But in English keyboard "." is "?", thats why I suggested to make a shortcut "?" + space = " ’ "
So if I understand right, you want to use a Russian keyboard layout to type Ukrainian?

Yes, you are right. About 45/2=22.5 millions of Ukrainians speak Russian and Ukrainian both, and have friends who speak different languages
Hello, I didn't forget about this, I just don't know what to do. I understand why you want to have "i" on S, but it makes no sense for other people who don't know the Ukrainian and Russian keyboards. I know that this would be helpful for people like you, but on the other hand, there are many users who might find it confusing, maybe even annoying to have seemingly unrelated characters on some keys. Imagine that you are a Quick Accent user that has never seen the Ukrainian layout and you press S+Space and the toolbar appears with all the different S's as expected and a random "і".

Yeah I agree with you, I just wanted to suggest better way but didn't think from this side. So let's do it by must common way
Or maybe there could be one Ukrainian for Russian keyboards and one for other people, but I'm not sure if that's a good idea...
I think that the way that you suggested is absolutely fine and universal
@PesBandi Hello there, I'm not sure about what lolop123 has proposed, but I can create list of additional symbols we need in Ukrainian layout and keys they should be mapped with. For example: F -> "а́", T -> "е́", etc.
It would be HUGE help for me to have them in Quick Accents, because I am using different symbols often and I'd love to have them in quick access in Quick Accents.

Hi @MagnarIUK, this would be helpful. Can you please send it here, if you have time?
@PesBandi Sure, I'll do it today
Thank you very much :)

Hello @MagnarIUK, I think that the original issue was about typing Ukrainian characters. As far as I know Ukrainian uses Cyrillic. Why would you need all those Latin characters for writing Ukrainian?
Description of the new feature / enhancement
There are a lot of dialects like Lithuanian present(2 mil people) but Ukrainnian(40 mil people) not, please add it with symbols (і, І, ї, Ї, ґ, Ґ, є, Є ). This will be very useful for a lot of people!
Scenario when this would be used?
Enter "ы" in Russian, press space, and choose "і" in Ukrainian. And this logic for rest symbols: ї, Ї, ґ, Ґ, є, Є

Guys, this is a very useful feature, I was searching for it for the last 5 years, but now it's not working for a very big nation, probably because it's Kirrilyc, idk. But I am dreaming about this feature, it will help about 40 million people because half of the Ukrainians speak Ukrainian and half of Russian, but all can speak both and need to switch languages all the time. Thank you!
