4 weeks ago This is neccesary and should be a default Windows Setting. I dont understand why Microsoft dominates the Industry and sleeps on features like this for decades!!!
Anyway some additions:
File Explorer AND General Program Instance/ Window Border Coloring Shemes
Usecase: If the User has opened many Instances/ Windows of the same Program and their placement is on the same position not differenciate between them can avoid copy/ paste/ relocate/ deletion errors
- Instances:: Each Instance of a Window should automatically have a different Color Sheme when started/ opened to differenciate between them easily.
The Settings should allow for:
- Specific Order of Color: RGB, HEX or HSL for minimally 6 Levels or up to 12 before the color repeats itself. (Context: Obsidian uses 6 Levels and i want them to look the same so i know without thinking which Instance Number this is)
- Random Order of Color
Easy implementation would allow for just a different shade of one color. Detailed implementation would allow to set the color of the Border independently from the Background or Text color.
If an Instance is closed while multiple others are opened and the closed Instance wasnt the last opened one:
- Keep track of the new Order of Instances and change colors accordingly so that all color levels in between are used. example: Level 1 Red Level 2 Orange Level 3 Yellow Level 4 Green Level 5 Blue Level 6 Purple If i open 4 Instances and close the 2 the color of Instance 3 should change from Yellow to Orange and the color of Instance 4 should change from Green to Yellow
- Items:: Each Item should be colored automatically according to:
- Index Number
- Or any Column Sorting already available: Name, Type, Date, Created, Last Modified, Status, Size,
- Specific Order of Color:
- Random Order of Color
Description of the new feature / enhancement
Add the ability to manually (or randomly) assign different colors to the title bar, borders, or background of application windows to help differentiate between files.
Scenario when this would be used?
When working on multiple files that appear similar, such as a current year and a previous year's report, being able to pick the color of the title bar or borders would help distinguish which file is which. File names are often long, and between split screens and all the quick menu icons, the full file name isn't always visible at the top. Same goes for Windows Explorer windows - when working on a project there may be files needed in multiple network locations, and having them color coded would make them easier to navigate.
