cschleter commented 10 months ago

Microsoft PowerToys version

0.73.0

Installation method

PowerToys auto-update

Running as admin

None

Area(s) with issue?

PowerRename

Steps to reproduce

Rename a group of files in a folder. Close PowerRename. Open another folder. Select files to rename. Open PowerRename from the context menu. PowerRename does not retain the previous Search/Replace strings in the new instance (it has always retained them in previous versions).

✔️ Expected Behavior

The previous Search/Replace strings to be populated in the dialog.

❌ Actual Behavior

Old Search/Replace strings (not the last ones used) were populated.

Other Software

No response

Hi @cschleter Is the "Show recently used string" option enabled in PowerRename settings? /needinfo

cschleter commented 10 months ago

It is. PowerRename works correctly in File Explorer but not in the file utility that I use (FreeCommander XE). FreeCommander has always had some issues with it - it always opens 2 PowerRename windows when PowerRename is started from the context menu. I'll keep trying to figure out what is going on.

This looks like an issue external to PowerToys if it's occurring with a replacement 🤔
