Area(s) with issue?

FancyZones

Steps to reproduce

This is only an issue through RDC. I have two monitors both at home and at my office. No issues in person. At home, connected to my office PC thru VPN/RDC, the following occurs:

  1. Initiate RDC connection and login.
  2. Everything is OK, I have a custom zone on Monitor 2, no zone on monitor 1. This is the expected behavior and matches my experience when I am in the office working locally.
  3. Walk away, remote PC auto locks after 10 minutes of inactivity. Local PC screen stays awake.
  4. Wake up Remote PC thru RDC connection and Log back in. (This happens on monitor 1). By this point the RDC window is no longer full screen covering both monitor. It is a window that I have to full screen again to occupy both monitors.
  5. Fancy zones have now switched monitors where now the custom zone is on monitor 1 and no zone is on monitor 2.

This seems to be new behavior as I do not recall this happening before. I can open fancy zones setup and switch the location of the zones to restore the setup. PowerToysReport_2024-05-31-10-01-41.zip

✔️ Expected Behavior

The zone configuration should remain in place.

❌ Actual Behavior

The configured zones swapped monitors.

I've experienced something similar many times. When I remote desktop to a machine, the zones move to different monitors.
