Steps to reproduce

After opening a PowerPoint file, which may have been a coincidence, my computer screen went black, with brief moments where I could see parts of some windows. I had to restart to recover. I can't reproduce it.

✔️ Expected Behavior

I didn't expect my screen to go dark, have flashing parts, and have to reboot.

❌ Actual Behavior

At one point the Windows lock screen with a login became visible, with a message saying dwm.exe had crashed and wasn't available. That's when I hard powered off and restarted.

When things were partially visible, I saw PowerToys pop-up windows saying something like "PowerToys has run into a problem" with crash information.

I asked PowerToys to create one of its bug report ZIP files after rebooting, let me know if you want it.

I see repeated Application event log entries like this between when problem started and I rebooted, about 3 minutes.

Indeed, perhaps the /bugreport will contain some info, although I suspect the crashes might be in reaction to dwm going out. Please add some more info too if this happens again.

PowerToysReport_2024-08-01-11-21-13.zip Attaching a PowerToys bug report file that I generated right after rebooting. After the dwm crash.
