Hey @Poopooracoocoo, shall I interest you in some community built solution for this. https://github.com/ShankarBUS/ModernFlyouts
Edit : It would be better if a replica of this is made available in PowerToys. Been using this app. I Like it overall but it would be better if it was a power toy.
@crutkas, can this be done? Can you talk to the developers of that app and ask them if they want to collaborate?
@ShankarBUS please do a collab with PowerToys and make it happen π
It is a neat idea, https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/wiki/Roadmap is our current things we're looking at. If this is a good solution, what value does powertoys just taking it in?
Can't you guys (Microsoft) have a much better or native solution? And you guys also forked Wox. ModernFlyouts doesn't hook to the interface natively like 7+ Taskbar Tweaker does, nor can it. It's like SylphyHornEx (or any other virtual desktop app for Windows), it should really just be built in.
@WindowsFanBoi & @Poopooracoocoo Thanks for your suggestion!
But ModernFlyouts in its current stage is buggy and prone to crashes. It shouldn't be included in PowerToys in its current state. PowerToys require some industry standard code with unit tests and proper documentation.
We are some young amateurs doing some silly project without any proper pattern (no MVVM), no multilingual support, no logging, no unit tests & many other things.
We chose to use MSIX (our code is tied to packaged appmodel) instead of MSI (which PowerToys generates using Wix Toolkit). Our project is a minor thing no one would even care about not having it (even this issue doesn't have that much attention). "PowerToys" the name indicates only powerful apps, soooo IMO we can't merge ours with PowerToys (And many other things we have our own tray icon, jumplist items, packaged, different UI from other toys due to using ModernWpf instead of WinUI & etc)
However....
If the team wants to use our source code as a base to make their own industry standard impl, we are very happy & really pleased to see our project in production β€
π Provide a description of the new feature
There are a bunch of things this PowerToy could do. First of all, it's worth noting that there's (finally) a new home for it (after 5 years or 8, if you include Windows 8!) in the volume flyout. Microsoft unfortunately hasn't updated the styles of the volume and brightness popups. I don't think it has any seeking functionality or any of the additional media features/data from Google's side. I hope that when MS enables this feature flag, they'll also integrate with the Global Media Controls in browsers like Chrome OS does. I don't know if it still appears with the media keys (if so, I hope it has a dismiss button!), or how it works with multiple videos, or even if the lockscreen controls have also been updated (which look much newer than the normal controls).
Anyway, this PowerToy would add a bunch of controls:
for searchers, this is sometimes referred to as the media or music popup/pop up/pop-up
