A new public template repository with all files needed to code a new PowerToy would be awesome.

we kind of have this but issue is prioritizing this work over fixing bugs / stabilization

Assuming that https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/tree/master/tools/project_template is the project template, I can create a template repo.

@alannt777 the documentation is not up-to-date.

This is part of the find my mouse work. @dend said he would provide feedback and I know @jaimecbernardo did / doing work here from find my mouse integration

This will be more pure docs however. I don't think it will be totally what @Aaron-Junker was asking for.

Yes, I'm taking the opportunity that Find My Mouse was a simple PowerToy to update the docs and template here: https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/tree/master/tools/project_template

Part of the challenge here is that this ends up being many files divided by different projects, since before the settings were automatically generated by what the PowerToy indicated and now they're manually added to the settings projects. For the main PowerToy code, I think a template still makes sense, with a different collection of files to add to the settings project manually.

@crutkas Yeah it's not exactly what I proposed, but anything is better then nothing

This and https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/issues/11687 are basically the same grouping of issues.
