Several issues:

I can take a swing at a fix if you could let me know what elements should I be looking for in the theme editor.

Did you ever make any progress on this?

Latest VS 2022 comes with Solarized Dark out of the box, so get rid of the extension, select from options & you're good to go! 😉

For those of us stuck with VS2019, you can change the CommonControls.TextBoxBackground color using the old Color Theme Editor (or the new Theme Designer) to something more Solarized. I suggest FF003847.

I did not manage to find how to change the dark Tab text nor the purple Tab hover, but I can live with that. It was harder to tolerate the unreadable textbox.

While I appreciate your efforts & findings, I'm pretty much the opposite regarding being (forced to) stuck with 2019 - nobody should interfere with software engineers demanding the latest VS release. Nobody. Ever.
