2 years ago I am open to any workaround other than doing a clean install. You know how painful is that if you have all your stuff setup

2 years ago @geocine what is the output of get-windowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName Microsoft-Windows-Subsystem-Linux? Or, if you run dism /online /get-features is WSL listed? It should look like this, enabled on my system:
