Performance tanks when running Live Share #4976

Type: Performance Issue

Just try to use VS Code to edit .NET code while hosting or joining a Live Share. The performance is terrible, approaching unusable. The .NET Language Server goes to lunch, the compile and debug processes crawl. My whole team experiences this across different kinds of machines and repositories.

We haven't seen this to be a general issue of late so it'd be helpful to get some more information. Does the issue reproduce when other extensions are disabled? Was the session being hosted from VS Code Desktop or Web (vscode.dev)? Also, how large is the .NET project that you're attempting to use Live Share with?

I haven't been working in Live Share recently. And one of our folks fixed a CSPROJ bug that was hammering the C# extension with rebuilds (we had a nanosecond resolution timestamp going into the assembly info on every build). I'll reopen if I can reproduce next time.
