[QUESTION]: Could we get a current state report? There are so many bugs reported right now #487

Hi there, love the kit. I wanted to reach out for a current state report? I am beginning to lose control over the state of the Creator Kit due to so many bugs being reported.

Due to all the bugs being reported what is the recommended approach to using the kit? When do you foresee to get "control" again?

Hope this could be interesting for all current developers using the kit.

Ole

We would all benefit to an answer to this. Will this kit continue to be supported and expanded? I am doing major development leveraging this kit, if it will not be supported any longer, I will need to pull it and use the stuff that comes with the Power Platform, which is nowhere near as rich as what this kit provides.

A response would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Steven

For me as well. I've just run into a bug with the DetailsList control and have seen comments elsewhere that no further resources are being devoted to this project. If that is the case, people need to know so that they can alter their projects accordingly.

The silence is deafening

Thank you for your continued interest in the Creator Kit and your patience as we work through our current processes. We want to assure you that the Creator Kit team will continue to support and maintain the kit, which remains fully usable in Power Apps. Moving forward, we will be prioritizing updates to components that do not have successors in modern controls, with the exception of the Details List. We’re also in the process of coordinating more resources to enhance our support, and we’ll provide an update soon.

Thank you @denise-msft , a short follow up question with regards to

we will be prioritizing updates to components that do not have successors in modern controls,

Will that mean all other? could you refer to a list or write the discontinued controls?

denise-msft commented 2 months ago

@trillian74 Based on our current capacity, we will prioritize bug fixes to the most used components that do not have successors in modern controls. We are currently not considering feature enhancements for this subset of components.

Here are the Creator Kit components that do have successors in modern controls, and therefore will be deprioritized for bug fixes and feature requests:

Creator kit Modern control
Spinner Spinner
ProgressIndicator ProgressBar
Persona Avatar
CommandBar Toolbar
SpinButton Number input
Calendar Date picker
Fluent Icon Icon
Pivot Tab list
Header Header
Info button tooltip (Fluent icon feature) Info button
Elevation Layout container (elevation property)

The reasoning behind this is to encourage customers to upgrade to the modern control version of this component, which offers enhanced functionality and ongoing support in line with the enterprise agreement SLA, ensuring the best experience.

We may consider fixing bugs for Creator Kit controls even if they are in modern controls if a capability is not implemented in modern controls (e.g., if there's an issue with the commandbar menu dropdown, which is not available in toolbar), however we would be internally communicating the customer need for the missing functionality in the modern control equivalent to determine whether we will fix a valid bug.
